Food for the evening will be provided by chef Stephen who has represented the UK at the ‘World Culinary Olympics’.

We will have the choice of a ‘Hog Roast’ (local pork- from only 2 fields away!) or Sea Bass (from Aldeburgh, 15 miles away) with bread from the Pump Street Bakery (Orford, only 11 miles away) – followed by homemade desserts

Live Music will follow. You can join in – singing is compulsory!  We may need our RIC song sheets at some point!

  • We complete the Friday evening back at the hotel, with local cheese, and port wine supplied by Adnams of Southwold.

Saturday

  • Saturday morning starts with a full English breakfast (or something lighter).
  • This will be followed by the RIC Conference between 10.00 and 12.00 which will be held in the hotel.

For those not attending the Conference we have arranged a trip to the world famous Snape Maltings Concert Hall, Visitor Centre and shops, which is some 20 minutes away.

Or you can visit Sutton Hoo, which is the site of two 6th- and early 7th-century cemeteries. One contained an undisturbed ship burial, including a wealth of Anglo-Saxon artefacts of outstanding art-historical and archaeological significance.

  • Or if you wish, you can simply play golf on the hotel’s superb course or use the Spa facilities to relax.

  • Following the Conference we will all be taken to nearby Crows Hall (about 30 mins away) for lunch, and an afternoon in which we will re-create a typical English “Village Fete” !

Crow’s Hall is a Grade II* listed 16th Century Moated Manor House.  It is situated on a summit of ground rising from the River Deben at Debenham, and is approached by a straight avenue flanked by a double row of oaks. Recent extensive repairs, including re-roofing and the removal of some late 20th century additions, have received awards for Craftsmanship by the Suffolk Association of Architects. The owner has also landscaped the inner moat, the design of which has been influenced by traditional gardens and includes a kitchen, formal garden with dipping pool, and a courtyard following early foundations of the former Hall and South wing.

  • At Crows Hall you will be able to stroll around the gardens, have lunch, and the opportunity to try our delicious locally brewed Earl Soham beers.
  • There will also be typical English village Fete games to try your hand at, as well as the opportunity to play croquet.X
  • Entertainment will be by the East Suffolk Morris Men – be ready for some singing and dancing!!!
  • All followed by a traditional English Cream Tea.

  • Leaving Crows Hall in the late afternoon we will arrive back at the hotel in plenty of time for you to prepare for the evening’s dinner dance.
  • Because there’s a Royal Wedding “clash” with RIC2018, we have decided to change the event on Saturday Night…

The theme for Saturday Night will be

“A Royal Affair”

So get out your Crown or Tiara, and dress like your favourite monarch from whatever country or era you like!

  • There will be a drinks reception from 19.00 with dinner being served from 19.45.
  • Wine and local beers will again be served during the evening.
  • Once again, we will again be entertained with live music!
  • Following dinner there will be a DJ until midnight… at which time, you only have a few yards to walk to your bed.

Sunday

After breakfast on Sunday we will be holding a tournament on the Congo Rapids Lost World 18 hole Crazy Golf coursenext to the hotel. A chance to blow away the cobwebs from the night before!

Please make sure you “sign up” for golf on the RIC booking form.

  • Afterwards, we will have coffee in the hotel and say our goodbyes at about 12:00
  • – until the next time….
