RIC 2019 Le Vesinet – Proposed social project

SOCIAL PROJECT – RIC 2019

IN MEMORY OF JEROME MONTET

Many RIC Members will remember our late member Jérôme MONTET who passed away on 27 March 2018 after years of fighting cancer.
In his memory, the Rotary Club of Le Vesinet propose to support Rivage, a local Association which helps patients in palliative care at the end of their life.
We propose to allocate the 2019 €5,000 donation from our 5 Clubs to support Rivage to provide professional training of volunteers and seminars for coordinators.

Rivage – Activity

  • Voluntary work accompanying /attending at end-of-life and mourning
  • Rivage trains persons/volunteers in order to care for patients and suffering persons in- or outside of hospitals; they are trained in their role of take-up, listening and support
  • Rivage creates between its members an interdisciplinary network allowing a holistic approach for the suffering person
  • Rivage sets up teams of accompanying volunteers
  • Rivage conceives and supports with the volunteers special places of welcome for suffering persons in- or outside of hospitals;  offering a quality ambiance and conviviality allowing the person to live every day of the time which remains.

Our Funding

  • Rivage has about 60 active members/volunteers
  • Rivage trains every year about 12 persons. Initial and Annual training is compulsory in France.
  • The initial training comprises 60 hours and costs about 500 euros per capita; the annual continuing training costs about 90 euros.
  • So 5,000 euros would cover the annual costs for the initial training sessions or the costs for continued annual training for all volunteers.
